The Party Dress, Chico Trujillo, & Various Reasons This Weekend Was Awesome

June 18, 2012

I had what you might call the best weekend ever  from Thursday to Sunday. Outdoor concert, raging trans-global dance parties, a much needed overdose of Peruvian food, and my little brother in Brooklyn for the first time!

It all started on Thursday when I made a new party dress…

I decided to wear it that night (to see one of my favorite bands in the world, Chico Trujillo) under my newly DIY’d Peruvian flag jacket.

The night was so amazing, it deserves its own cheesy digital scrapbook pages!

After partying hard at SOBs with Chico Trujillo, and bringing the band to party with us at Mehanata (insert theatrical dancing and Albanian drinking habits)  I woke up the next day to prepare for the arrival of my baby bro! It was his 24th birthday, and we were set to celebrate it with ceviche, pistachio cupcakes, and lots of dancing.

The following day we saw Balkan Beat Box & Chico Trujillo (again) in Prospect Park. If any concert I experience the entire summer is even half as cool as this was, I’ll eat my hat. Aside from music I adore with every cell in my body, this was a beer-soaked bohemian bash for the ages. See more photos of the show here.

The next morning afternoon, we woke up and headed upstate to celebrate father’s day with the most amazing man on earth: my father! We did so with sparklers. ♥

This morning it was back to the city on the Poughkeepsie line, a tranquil ride along the Hudson river. Even though I’m exhausted, I’ll be smiling about the past few days aaaalll week.

In summary, if you want to have the best weekend ever, go to concerts outside, play with sparklers, and give cupcakes to people you love!
