#FNO! Fashion’s Night Out DIY Event At Bloomingdale’s SoHo
The mardi-gras (or Halloween?) of fashion has come and gone, boasting a massive turn-out in NYC (though little shopping to speak of). I had the pleasure of hosting my first official Fashion’s Night Out event at Bloomingdale’s SoHo with my friend Sarah Caye—I promise she’ll have a blog up soon that I’ll be able to link to.
Our mission? To stud, slash, and otherwise modify FNO t-shirts into super chic renditions of themselves for all who purchased one. Before the event we were convinced it would be slow. We even brought other things to stud while we waited. But we were wrong, ya’ll. There were so many customers asking for studs and DIY-treatment that we had to stop taking orders two hours before the night ended.
Shoppers may not have been biting the bait elsewhere in NYC, but we totally sold out of FNO t-shirts on our floor!
In the end, it was a bit frustrating due to the super-thin t-shirt fabric (the stud spikes were ripping holes bigger than desired), but we sent a lot of faces home smiling. We saw some friends, had a few cocktails, and ate a few mini-cupcakes too.
A shot of the table before the madness began.
These two ladies showed up wearing some amazing stenciled lip-art.
I was super excited when Aparna Dasgupta, designer & BFF for many years, stopped by to pay a visit! She helped us snag some cupcakes when we could’t leave our table full of stud-hungry customers. Isn’t she just the cutest?
Francine, founder of Denim Therapy—I made her shirt over the weekend and you’ll get to see it next week. ;}
Raffa came out for moral (and photog) support—check out his Mishka hat and selvedge denim cuff.
P.S. I wore my American Eagle floral print jeans and a denim collar that I DIY’d the night before in about 20 minutes. Stay tuned for a quick DIY post on that!
