I am not a fan of the word “glamping” as it brings to mind images of layered makeup, hair rollers, and parking an RV in the middle of the words. Instead, let’s go with stylish-camping and call it a day. Inspiration below!

I just cracked myself up with an image of what I look like when I wake up in a tent. Not exactly like these beauties above!  I tend to look more like this.

Okay, off to pack up the caravan and head into the wilderness… au revoir! 

So imagine my delight yesterday when I allowed myself 30 minutes to do a really cute DIY project! It was like a bite-sized vacation from my to-do list. I whipped up some DIY beach rock fridge magnets—a project I’ve been saving rocks for since my vacay last summer.

I used a mix of pink turquoise slabs, quartz, beach glass and assorted salvaged/painted rocks, some $1.99 magnets from Jo-Ann Fabric, and my favorite all-purpose clear tacky glue, Fabri-Tac.

Before you begin, curate your rocks into a set of mixed colors and textures.

Round up your magnets (in the end, I realized I should have spent  a few more bucks and got stronger magnets, as these little guys didn’t hold the heavier stones—but they worked perfectly for the lighter ones).

Dab a bit of glue onto the back of each rock with your Fabri-Tac and immediately place the magnet over your glue.

Let them dry for a few hours — overnight is a safe bet to be sure the rocks don’t ooze off the magnets while they’re on the fridge.

And voila! An extremely beachy, bohemian addition to your fridge.

I had a beautiful mini-escape for mother’s day in the Hudson Valley, from the rainy, scenic train ride here to the awesome food we ate to laughing together watching British comedies and totally nailing it with the perfect gift this year.

Whenever I come here, mom always has some kind of surprise for me — an exquisite beaded collar she found at a yard sale for mere cents, a stack of blogging magazines from a friend at work whom she told about my blogging habit, a strangely endearing hot pink can of pepper spray… (Mom grew up in Brooklyn and she isn’t messing around)

I can’t really get into how amazing my mother is here on Hey Mishka. The internet would explode after my love took up all the bandwidth on the internet. But I will say this: she’s my hero and she’s the kindest person I have ever met. Just don’t mess with her, or you’ll get pepper sprayed in the face. ;}

Happy Mothers Day to my amazing mom and all moms around the world. Women are already awesome, but moms take the cake.

Below I’ve rounded up my inventory of must-have items as we approach mid-May, from accessories to cosmetics and skincare. These things make my life easier, prettier, and more enjoyable, so they might work for you too.

 AJ Morgan clear cyan sunnies for strolling in the afternoon and running errands. I picked these up at MeMe Antenna in Williamsburg’s mini-mall on Bedford Ave. They were less than $20!

 Gemstone bracelets to keep you centered. I chose bracelets that manifest healing, self-control, and protection from evil thoughts. I’m a big believer in talismans of this nature. I bought these at the end of winter with the intent of easing some of the self-sabotaging discord I’d manifested during the cold months.

 American Eagle ‘Vintage’ fragrance. It’s been a while since anything tempted away from my usual perfume, Euphoria by CK. But this one is both feminine and rich, probably a good year-round option.

 Lime Crime pastel pink lipstick. If you’ve been searching for the perfect saturated pink lip, this is it. The color is very intense, and I recommend applying it near natural light so you can see just how much of an impact it’s making. You can see a model wearing this hue in my Etsy shop.

 Pastel purple notebook made with recycled leather for jotting down grocery lists, goals, and haikus. This little book is always in my bag and it’s full of the aforementioned as well as contact info from chance meetings with fellow masterminds and sketches of henna tattoos I want to get this summer.

 Lollia Peony & white lily bubble bath for an evening of relaxation and decompressing. It’s also gorgeous as decor on your vanity.

 I saved the best for last. My current obsession, Mario Badescu seaweed cleansing lotion. It’s actually a liquid toner rather than a lotion, that you can use after washing your face with their amazing seaweed soap.

 23 signs you’ve been living in NYC too long. I just sagely nodded to most of these, especially considering the wind from an approaching subway train “a nice breeze” in the summer. If you look around you will literally see people enjoying that like it’s a gust of delicious sea air.

 Free People’s new mini fashion film focuses on three best friends who travel to Rio after one of them gets her heart broken. Sounds cheesy but I found it refreshingly real. If nothing else, it’s visually stunning.

 The insanely well-executed fall 2013 lookbook of Camilla. Bohemian style addicts, you might need to sit down for this one.

All in all, a relaxing spring weekend with sunshine and a full stomach. But now it’s Monday, violets. And Monday is another story. Here’s what I wore on Saturday!

Super casual & no-fuss. Tee by Vans, cardigan by American Eagle, hat from an obscure shop in the East Village, high-low skirt salvaged from Buffalo Exchange.

To keep myself motivated this week, I made a pinterest board full of appealing gals working, reading, and acting like bosses. I may have also included some cute pastel office supplies!

Yes, I spent more than 15 minutes doing that instead of just getting some work done… but for you visually stimulated libras in the audience, you’ll get why this was kind of worth it.
