I’ve spent the past few weeks slaving over my senior collection garments, averaging 3 hours of sleep per night, morphing into a socially incapable fiber-covered monster. But it’s all over now! The judging panel came in this morning at 11AM to review our work as we dispersed to smoke/drink coffee/gossip about each other for a half our and wonder of our fate.
I’m mostly happy with the results despite a few technical errors and behind the scenes resource depletion. Alexander Wang said it was “super cute” as he edited my looks on Monday morning (omg). His suggestions were immensely helpful in pulling it all together!
The jumpsuit (an entry for the Cotton Inc contest – the entire thing is cotton. Jersey, Sateen, etc). The top is hand beaded with glass bugle & seed beads.
The jacket / Harem pants (an entry for the runway show) . Jacket is cotton sateen and the harem pants are a poly knit.
In the end, my excessively beaded top (originally shown under the jacket) was cut entirely from the collection because it just didn’t work out the way I had envisioned, and I didn’t give myself enough time to do the problem solving that could have made it happen. The grey knit cardigan was also cut (originally layered over the cardigan).
I took a lot of photos along the way…
Zooey took these all-telling photos of me basting the harem pants over Easter weekend. I couldn’t go home (way too much sewing to do), so she brought me a cupcake! Love her face off.
I’ll post some of my favorite designs by classmates soon. But now, English Breakfast Tea and preparation for tomorrow’s Asian philosophy exam…
