Have you ever wanted to get away from it all… without actually going anywhere? The cramped quarters of my apartment have left me with this feeling more times than I can count. Recently, I’ve decided to do something about that.
You may remember my Brooklyn staycation from February. It was such a nice concept to get away from home for a few days without going on a full-blown vacation (no misplaced checked baggage or ears popping at 30K feet? Sign me up!), so we decided to give it another go.
We picked a place that was a quick cab ride away and… about 10x bigger.
This rental is on one of the busiest streets in Bushwick and was the perfect spot for us to unwind. The massive industrial space was successfully converted into a cozy apartment, giving me all kinds of ideas for future abodes of our own.
I added my own faerie lights (because of course I did), lit some candles, and popped some champagne. We watched movies, played video games, and just vegged out.
I even got some work done! Working on client projects—and my blog—in the open layout was really inspiring.
I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m definitely grateful for my own apartment, but this little reprieve was refreshing.
On the first night, we went to the grocery store and stocked up on a weekend’s worth of meals and snacks. On the second night, we went out into the cold. Coming back home was the best part. 😉
Overall, staycations? I highly recommend them, wherever you are. Look for local rentals or Airbnbs and get away for a while. It’s budget-friendly and the travel time is next-to-nothing, but you still get the feeling of treating yourself.
Have you ever had a staycation in your city/town?
