What is it about 2020 that feels so meaningful? I mean, I love a new year, but this is no ordinary new year. Cue Shade playing in the background~
But seriously, I got riled up for the start of the new decade, eager to kick big dreams into gear and do this year some justice. I spent a lot of time pouring over lists, setting goals, and hyping myself up to have the best year ever.
So now that January is over, did it live up to the hype? Have I earned my January 2020 badge of awesomeness? I vlogged the whole thing, so you can decide for yourself.
…a lot happened!
I drank coconut rose chai. I cleaned my desk. I got my aura photographed. Oh, and I launched a freaking agency! I also (more or less) learned how to make Danish butter cookies.
Perhaps most importantly, I came to terms with diving into work in a messy, imperfect way instead of agonizing over systems and project management.
Undoubtedly one of the coolest things about January was getting my color aura photographed. This was one of my 2020 goals, so I checked it off the list as soon as I saw Halo photography was coming to town.
I’m actually making an entirely separate video on that to talk through all of the things I learned. Tiny preview: According to my aura, I am not expressing or exorcising the many thoughts, ideas, passions, etc that are swirling around in my head. They’re stuck up there.
And this is SO freaking accurate for me. I’ve been sitting on SO many projects, second-guessing so much content I want to make. But, I digress. I have a whole video coming out on this soon. So make sure you’re subscribed to my YouTube channel if you want to check that out.
Anyway, there was laughing, crying, and staring at blank cursors wondering what to type. I guess you could say it was a well-rounded month, setting the tone for the year ahead. I’m eager to get out of my comfort zone and get on a plane this month. It’s been so long since I’ve seen a palm tree!
Apart from my trip to Oaxaca, this month I’m also going to be creative-directing a client photoshoot—something I haven’t done in years but agreed to because #CiaoComfortZone2020—and onboarding my first few agency clients.
I’m a little bit anxious going into February, but looking forward to catapulting myself into the unknown and figure it out on the fly like the good old days.
I’ll be sure to update you guys on how everything unfolds—and I’ll stick to my promise of vlogging each month.
Here’s to the rest of 2020! Let’s keep the energy going!
