So, my April vlog is finally complete… and it’s not the most fun thing I’ve ever made. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that this has been a tough month as NYC—and the world—grapples with the coronavirus pandemic.
Waking up to more dark and foreboding news each day can really take it out of you. It’s been hard to do anything creative or whimsical when the atmosphere is so grim.
We’ve been lucky to have a safe place to lock down in, however, and I tried to focus on the positives throughout the month. I had extra time to bake, hang out with my guy, and take care of plants.
The owner of my favorite wine store quarantined himself from his family in order to keep the family business running, and I was able to support him with delivery orders (a lot of them, ha).
I also had a lot of time to sit and think about how grateful I am to have a remote writing career, writing clients who have not gone out of business, and a sense of optimism about the future.
I decided to dedicate this vlog to the essential workers who kept NYC running throughout the month—and to everyone who has suffered as a result of the outbreak.
Don’t forget to subscribe to the Hey Mishka Youtube channel! I promise that upcoming vlogs will be more chipper. 😉
Here’s to a full recovery… asap.
