Sometimes you just have to open the windows, put on some Studio Ghibli, and make crafts all day. May was a relaxing, creative month. I went plant shopping, saw some friends, and spent a lot of time in my little studio making beaded bracelets. Plant shopping in NYC has always been a love of mine, but with spring’s arrival, adding more green to my space feels like full-blown therapy. Designing colorful jewelry while appreciating my plants—and the light pouring in through my window—was blissful.
I know, I know. Beaded bracelets sound a bit childish. But a) I’ll always love them (I was a candy raver in my early teens) and b) I’ve been thinking a lot about how infusing whimsical craft projects into our lives can help us manage stress, process emotions, and slow down. I’m working on a video to express those thoughts—and convince more grown-ass women to make cute things, I guess! Stay tuned for that.
For now, check out my May vlog. It’s one of my favorites in recent memory.

Here are a few of my favorite snaps from May!
Early evening sunlight is just stunning in my little studio.
My ankle, which I destroyed by toppling down the cement staircase outside. *Sigh*
Reuniting with some friends. We’ve been hosting little gatherings in the yard and I love it!
The gorgeous grass, growing!
Making beaded bracelets was a big theme this month…
Did you know little mushrooms can grow out of house plants? Especially if you use Miraclegrow. 😮
The backyard catastrophe… Watch the vlog to see what happened.
Floral nails from Etsy. I love these! I got them here.
A glimpse at what the humidity does to my hair. It might look kind of nice, but I can’t wear it down when it’s hot out! 😵
Outdoor dinners… 🍃💚
The result of making bracelets all month. Watch the vlog for the plot twist on this little project. 🙄

That’s it for May! Up next, the end of spring and the start of summer.
By the way, if you’re feeling stressed about life these days (who isn’t?), remember that good things are always coming. There’s always something to look forward to. And if there isn’t, you deserve to create something to look forward to.
Whether it’s tea-for-one next to your window or a brand new notebook to scribble in, I hope you can find a way to treat yourself this week!
Hang in there.
