Here comes the bride… and she’s me! E and I officially had our DIY Hudson Valley wedding this June (after so much anticipation and dodging covid-impacted timelines for two years—remember when we got engaged?) and the resulting emotions are a wild mix of bliss, relief, and exhaustion.
While it was an intimate affair, planning your own wedding is no joke. Luckily I had friends and family to help along the way. I made my own wedding dress (see the vlog here) which felt like a rite of passage for any fashion school grad. We did our own color scheme, flowers, decor and planning so it was a sweet mix of rustic-casual and Libra-esque fairy tale with Mexican traditions woven in. The whole weekend was nothing short of pure, once-in-a-lifetime magic.
One of my favorite things about our wedding is that my little brother rigged up a live stream setup (with cameras and microphones placed strategically around the yard) so E’s family in Mexico could watch the entire wedding.
I finally finished sorting through and sharing our photos with family and friends, so I thought it was time to share them here, too! From the big house we rented for our friends to stay in, to the lush, green ceremony and reception in my parent’s yard, here’s how our wedding day unfolded…

Something people don’t talk about is the anxiety and expectation of receiving and reviewing wedding photos. The anticipation of whether the photographer captured the most important details and moments, the initial shock of seeing yourself rendered in film (if you’re not used to being photographed by others, especially in candid form), the time-consuming process of picking selects… while trying not to pick your physical appearance apart.
I knew that last part would be especially hard for me, but in the end, I’m just grateful to have beautiful photos of this special day. I got to marry my best friend while some of my favorite people in the world gathered to see us off to this next step in our journey. And all of this unfolded in the most special place to me: my parent’s yard, where I grew up playing and have made countless memories over the years.
It doesn’t get much more epic than that.

Until next time…
